This piece of furniture (aka playground, bed, work space, etc.) is over fourteen feet in diameter, and as such unless you have a wide open space, you can expect it to command the attention in a room. Apparently up to sixteen people can fit inside it, and relax against the plethora of pillows within it. I definitely like the idea of a multipurpose piece of furniture, but think more people could be tempted to obtain one if it was not in fact structured like an actual bird’s nest. So while I mean to take nothing away from the designer, I think they might consider making another version with smooth edges, which would be more kid friendly and fit within the style of any space with greater ease. Just love stuff like this that gets the mind swimming with possibilities, and the wonder of something unique in nature is so rare these days.

Over the years, this has definitely become one of my top ten pet peeves. By placing a small  bed, on a small rung, with a small bedside table and tiny lamp you are drawing attention to size. Instead of creating a room that is filled with the right stuff, items that are so tiny nobody sees them as enticing is the exact opposite.

No matter what the dimensions of a room, the furniture should be appealing to a potential buyer. And chances are those who view the home are not going to find a replication of the seven dwarves dwelling to be tempting. Curious maybe, but attracting nope. Consider the shapes and sizes of the average person, and choose the furniture based upon that.

Relax, regular sized pieces will not make it feel tiny, if the space is the size of a cupboard, that does not change no matter what you put in it. And to be completely frank, while one might think promoting the house as being a four bedroom because those words sound like they will bring in higher offers, if it isn’t four don’t try and make it so.  If it is really a linen closet let it be one, if it is really a small home office, allow it to be just that. You aren’t going to fool anybody, unless you actually do pull out some smoke and mirrors.

While it might not have been your intention to hold onto the house, and all you could want is to get it sold off. Yet, reality is probably knocking on your door about now. Is it whispering, or perhaps screaming for you to do something, anything to increase your income, decrease the out of pocket, and overall release yourself from the enormous financial burden you have to carry over this home? Sounds like renting is the answer to your woes, and you might even consider yourself lucky that this opportunity exists. This rings true whether it is a furnished or unfurnished place. I mean, yes options are limited, but at least there are options at all.

So, already, what might seem like a high price at first glance can be rationalized. If you end up keeping a piece of modern furniture for numerous years, and break down what it actually cost over the course of that time, chances are you end up with either a reasonable price, or even a bargain. Funny things is,  some modern furniture is actually quite old now, and is cropping up in places that sell antiques, thus, the durability, and age is proving to be in line with some other styles of furniture.

As for it being cold, or uncomfortable, well, it is all in the selection, just like anything. If you chose cool colours, and do not balance things out with soft furnishings it could very easily be considered cold. But if you like warmth, then you will gravitate towards in in all types of style, and your personal choices and touches will shine through.

Another frequent benefit we hear from sellers who go through the staging process is that they had a room that they would never in a million years would have thought to do what the stagers did. Sometimes it is because the space is an odd shape, or the view is distracting, but what they get is an area that flows with the other rooms, and enhances the overall appearance. Bottom line is that studies show people who do walk thrus of homes on the market only spend three to six minutes looking around.  So every second of what they see counts a great deal. It is critical to get things right

If you are instead the type that likes to really prepare, then measure twice, instead of once to be certain of those spaces. It is really quite common for the incorrect measurements to lead people to rent furniture that is the wrong size for a room. Nobody wants furniture to take up more room than it should, nor do they want it to look like they have stepped into a dollhouse.

Remember, it is clear that you can expect a better income from a property that you decorate nicely than one that is discombobulated in appearance. It is just common sense that a renter will be willing to pay more for comfortable, clean, and attractive.

If you have not already considered giving your arty a theme, rest easy in the knowledge that you can very easily find one to your liking on the many lists available online. Some of the most successful, and special themes we have covered are Arabian Nights, Casino Royale, and Big Top.  Not to mention, when fancy dress is involved, or just dressing fancy, you bring in free decorations and enhance the look of the space where you are holding your soiree with the guests attire. I could go on and on about this, but I think you are starting to get the picture.

While initially it made sense to keep things simple, and just leave the walls as they were, unless they were a creamy white, or some other nice neutral then their can be issues at the time of showing the home for a possible sale. Potential buyers can visualize their own furniture, and style within the parameters of a space when the walls are not in a colour they are revolted by, or find undesirable. However, while wall colour might sway an individual, a total lack of colour in a home can also discourage interest. A monotone house might look amazing in a layout in a magazine, as the house being photographed is likely very expensive, with high end everything, and an interior designers crafty work. For those of us without brand new everything, or top of the line stuff, colourful furniture can prove to be extremely important.

Thus, when clients inquire about home staging, I try to make it as clear to them as possible that this is their opportunity to bring life to their dwelling if they are unable to repaint. In fact, it is the optimum time to make the most of their homes best features by enhancing them with beautiful furniture, and the right balance of colour. This is not a ploy for them to spend more on this process, it is just the advice of someone who has been working in this field for longer than I care to admit. Those that have heeded this direction have all later told me what a difference it made to the look, and feel of the home.

Still, the first choice in this situation is in fact a combination of factors.  Surprisingly, since it is coming from me, it is not to get clients to hire as many items as possible for the staging. Instead, when possible, applying a coat of fresh lovely white paint and adding in well chosen furniture and decorations is what goes over the best.

This furniture is made from rattan reeds; these come from rattan which is a variety of palm tree that has a deep and shiny bark. Thus it is also referred to as rattan furniture. In order to make this rattan bark pliable it is steamed and then bent into the required shapes.
